Our Cultural Communities team provides culturally responsive dementia information, support and programming for people living with dementia, care partners and families. We recognize that language, culture, family relationships and community experiences can shape how people understand dementia, seek support and navigate care. Our services are adapted to reflect the needs, values and experiences of the communities we serve.

Our Cultural Communities Navigators provide culturally responsive dementia information, navigation and support in multiple languages. They work closely with individuals, families and communities to make dementia services more accessible, relevant and responsive to diverse cultural experiences.
Fianee Chan
Cultural Communities Navigator
Fianee is the Chinese Community Engagement Navigator and is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. She provides culturally responsive dementia information, navigation and support to members of the Chinese community.

ADI collaborates with local Alzheimer’s associations to address cultural and linguistic needs, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. The resources cover various topics, including understanding dementia, caregiving tips, reducing stigma, and connecting with care pathways.
The Rare Dementia Support (RDS) – Translated Resources provides a collection of multilingual resources designed to support individuals and families affected by rare forms of dementia, including frontotemporal dementia, primary progressive aphasia, and posterior cortical atrophy. These resources are translated into multiple languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and other South Asian and international languages, making them accessible to culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Dementia Australia – Multilingual Resources provides a diverse collection of dementia-related materials translated into over 40 languages, including Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Tagalog, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu, among others. These resources are designed to support culturally and linguistically diverse communities by offering accessible information on understanding dementia, caregiving strategies, and available support services. Through fact sheets, videos, and guides, Dementia Australia addresses cultural sensitivities, reduces stigma, and promotes awareness, ensuring that individuals and families from different backgrounds receive the information they need.
